What is Personal Identification?

Personal Identification™ or PID is a core identification credential issued by states and commonwealths to uniquely identify all residents, regardless of legal presence. PID is matched across various industries and states to confirm each resident's unique identity. The credential is used by state agencies, financial institutions, medical providers, schools and employers. It is the only secure credential that is biometrically-linked to the resident to ensure the holder's true identity. A PID credential becomes the breeder credential to issue driver licenses and request services ranging from Medicaid to food stamps.

Who issues a PID credential?

A PID credential is issued by state governments looking to lead the fight against identity fraud by adopting a solution that solves multiple issues at the same time and moves away from the process of using documents to verify an individual.

What are the benefits from using a PID credential?

PID is the core of each state or commonwealth's identification policy. A PID credential is the primary identification credential that will stop individuals from obtaining state services using fraudulently-obtained documents.

How does PID help solve REAL ID mandates?

PID provides a stronger solution to the federal mandates required by REAL ID because it includes biometrics. PID identifies individuals while REAL ID verifies documents, the same method used throughout history. The intent of REAL ID is to create an identification card that allows access to federal buildings and board planes. REAL ID requires all residents have a REAL ID-compliant card even though not all residents fly or need to get into a federal building.

PID enables states and commonwealths to utilize a higher standard of identification that is more secure and separate from a driver's license. PID is matched across various industries and states to confirm each resident's unique identity. Issuing PID credentials enables states to eliminate obstacles for REAL ID compliance and replace the failing effort with a more cost-effective and robust solution. The existing driver's license infrastructure was not built for REAL ID and will take billions of dollars and many years to update and reconfigure in order to meet compliance. PID eliminates the need to overhaul existing systems and process, saving states millions of dollars.

Do all residents need to get a PID credential?

No. A PID credential can be issued to all residents, regardless of legal presence; however, each governor and state or commonwealth determines who is required to get a PID credential. Residents have the ability to opt-out, which allows those individuals to not participate. Each state or commonwealth will establish their own policies for those residents who opt-out.

Each state or commonwealth also has the flexibility to issue residents a PID card or a T7-enabled driver's license.

How much would a PID credential cost a resident?

Each state or commonwealth determines the cost of the PID credential.

What information is included on a PID card?

To protect an individual's privacy, the front of a PID card contains limited information including name, gender, address, date of birth, country of birth and a facial image. The same information is embedded in the back of the card along with a finger image which enables the card to be used for verification purposes after the resident has completed the identification process.

How long is a PID card valid?

A PID card is valid for 4 years and must be renewed in person to maintain integrity and provide residents continued protection against identity fraud.

Is the PID card a smart card and/or does it contain an RFID chip?

No. In order to provide the most cost-effective and secure identification credential the PID card is not a smart card and does not contain an RFID chip.

Is the information shared with the federal government?

No. TASCET is a consumer protection company and does not data mine or sell information and is non-transactional. Social Security numbers and other government-issued identifiers are not collected.
